Introducing The Poynter Society
Children's Hospital & Medical Center Foundation is proud to introduce a new planned giving society, The Poynter Society. The Poynter Society recognizes and honors friends of Children's Hospital who inform us of their intentions to invest in the future of Children's through planned or deferred gift arrangements.
The society is named in honor of C.W.M. Poynter, M.D., former dean of the University of Nebraska College of Medicine. In the 1920s, Dr. Poynter stood on the College of Medicine campus, looked westward and told his colleagues: "We ought to have a children's hospital out there. We could be doing so much more for the health of our children."
Dr. Poynter, along with Omaha World-Herald publisher Henry Doorly, founded the original Children's Memorial Hospital in 1948. When the hospital opened, the board of trustees announced that Dr. Poynter was rightfully the "father" of Children's Hospital. "Your inspiration has made this hospital possible. It was your conversations with Mr. Doorly that made these hopes become a reality. It has been your ideas, your interest and your untiring work that have produced this magnificent hospital."
Why Should You Reveal Your Charitable Legacy and Join The Poynter Society?
By making known your gift for Children's Hospital, you will demonstrate a commitment to the hospital, your community and the children we serve. Other people who know and respect you may follow your leadership, increasing the impact of your decision. Should you choose to join us, you will have an opportunity to see firsthand how your gift will make a difference. You will join others who share your values. You will provide a legacy for children—offering them a brighter, healthier future.
