Student Stories - Scholarship Recipients
Candace N. Sweatt: "This scholarship (Emma Box Visual Arts Scholarship) means very much to me and I am touched and privileged to receive it. . . .I hope that my use of this scholarship and my efforts in the next year honor the Foundation, my teachers, and myself. Thank you very, very much!"
Brent Biddy: " I want to express my gratitude to the ECU Foundation for the financial assistance. I am majoring in Biology, studying Molecular Biology. I have worked with Dr. Stephen Fields doing research in the field of biofuels studying algae species, and I have also been accepted as a NASA fellow by the Oklahoma NASA Space Grant Consortium. This assistance will help me concentrate on my studies. . ."
Mark P. Davis: "I returned to ECU in the Spring of 2010 as a non-traditional student, after retiring from the United States Navy. I knew I wanted to go into the field of law, and under the excellent advisement of Dr. Christine Pappas and Dr. Jenna Owens, I expect to graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Legal Studies in May 2012. Thank you for your generosity. I'm indeed honored to receive this scholarship."
Derek Blakemore: "I am from Healdton, a small town in southern Oklahoma, where I have developed a good work ethic. I'm a dedicated, hard-working individual and I will put this scholarship to good use. I hope to become a second-generation graduate from ECU. Thank you for your confidence in me. Once a Tiger, Always a Tiger!"
Heston Thomas Bush: "I want to personally thank the ECU Foundation for giving me the opportunity to pursue a degree from ECU. Your funding will be a great help, and it is appreciated."
Shelby McCarty: "I am pleased to be the recipient of both the Carlock Foundation Scholarship and the ECU Foundation's Special Scholarship. These scholarships are greatly appreciated and will help me fulfill my dream of becoming an RN. Once a Tiger, Always a Tiger!"
Joseph Dunlap: "I am very appreciative of being selected as a recipient of the John Boyce and Grace McKeel Foundation Scholarship. I plan to earn my degree in Mathematics so I can get my Oklahoma teaching certificate. To achieve this, I plan to work exceptionally hard because I want to devote my life to my community's youth as an excellent Math teacher. This scholarship means I am that much closer to achieving my dreams. "
