Why We Give
Harriet Boettcher
The Florida Atlantic University community mourns the loss of generous contributor and dear friend Harriet Boettcher. Harriet will be remembered as an independent trailblazer who loved FAU and its students and supported the university in many ways.
As a woman who wears many hats, Dr. Alice Griffin is dedicated to expanding educational opportunities for people of all ages. With this in mind, Alice has made several gifts to FAU with the intention of doing just that.
Florida Atlantic University recently hosted a luncheon to honor the generous benefactors in our Horizon Society. Guests had the chance to meet a few of the thousands of FAU students who benefit from their generosity.
Arthur Jaffe, founder and curator of the Arthur and Mata Jaffe Center for Book Arts, housed at FAU's Wimberly Library, has been involved with FAU for nearly 20 years.
Jim and Leigh Slowiak moved to Boca Raton, Fla., from Chicago almost 38 years ago and have watched Florida Atlantic University grow from a two-year commuter school to a four-year institution with 10 colleges, seven campuses, a football team and an on-campus stadium. As Horizon Society members, the Slowiaks are helping to ensure that FAU continues to grow as a world-class university.
Since 1992, the residents of Edgewater Pointe Estates, a retirement community in Boca Raton, have helped deserving students attend Florida Atlantic University through the Edgewater Pointe Estates Scholarship Fund.
