Minnesota Tax Relief — If you use the short tax form, you may benefit from the Charitable Giving Tax Relief portion of Minnesota’s 1999 Tax Bill. This bill makes it possible for those who give more than $500 in money or goods to nonprofits to claim a tax deduction of 50 percent of the amount by which their total contributions exceed $500.
For example, a person who donates $1000 to nonprofits for the taxable year will be able to deduct 50 percent of everything over $500. So that taxpayer would get a $250 deduction from his or her taxable income. To learn more, give us a call.
