ACT NOW! THE IRA CHARITABLE ROLLOVER IS BACK!
President Bush signed the Emergency Economic Stabilization Act of 2008 on Oct. 3 permitting IRA charitable rollovers in 2008. If you are 70 1/2 or older, you can give up to $100,000 from your traditional or Roth IRA directly to Mountain States Legal Foundation (MSLF)! The gift will not be included in your federal taxable income. But it will count toward your mandatory withdrawal amount; however, there is NO mandatory withdrawal during 2009. Consult your personal financial advisor for the details.
To Make a Gift From Your IRA:
- Contact your IRA custodian immediately. It may take 2-3 weeks to make a distribution.
- Tell your IRA custodian to make a gift to MSLF, tax identification #84-0736725.
