Cherishing Each Other and Empire State College

Visitors to the Willis home are greeted by Lulu, an elegant feline with Himalayan and Siamese bloodlines. With a blink of approval from Lulu’s luminescent blue eyes, a visitor may pass to be greeted by her hospitable owners, Jack and Judy. In addition to being proud cat owners, Jack and Judy are firm believers in education as a way to open doors to exciting new knowledge and opportunities. Judy credits her experience at Empire State College with “awakening my love of learning.”

When Judy decided she wanted to do something very special for the college, she expressed her wishes to Jack, who not only supported her, but helped structure a plan that will generously support the college in the decades to come. “I know our contribution will be used for good work,” Jack said when affirming his commitment to their bequest intentions.

Over the years, this devoted, energetic couple has experienced successful business careers, and now they’ve even found a way to work together professionally. As a clinical hypnotherapist, Judy facilitates a program for individuals to overcome the fear of flying, and Jack, utilizing his knowledge as a pilot, assuages their fears with accurate information about aircraft construction and the normal sensations of air travel. Helping others seems to come naturally to Jack and Judy.

As a result of their caring relationship for each other and their commitment to learning, Judy and Jack have created a gift for the future of Empire State College and the power of lifelong learning. The college gratefully welcomes them to the Boyer Society.
